Quality Control Engineer

About the Role

Tuwaiq Casting & Forging Company is looking for a meticulous and seasoned Quality Control Engineer to join their Quality Control Division. Reporting directly to the QC Manager, this position is pivotal in verifying that all casting and forging products comply with both internal quality benchmarks and client requirements through effective quality control mechanisms. The engineer will focus on reducing defects, enhancing manufacturing efficiency, and ensuring adherence to recognized industry standards and certifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough inspections of castings and forgings following established quality protocols and engineering drawings.
• Lead quality control procedures throughout the casting workshop in accordance with company standards.
• Manage non-conforming products by following NCR guidelines, including the handling of internal NCRs.
• Develop Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for castings and devise inspection plans that comply with internal and external quality demands.
• Inspect raw materials, work-in-progress components, and finalized products systematically.
• Document inspection outcomes and analyze quality data to detect trends and resolve issues.
• Oversee daily inspection operations on the shop floor of the casting department.
• Coordinate with third-party inspection entities for audits and inspections.
• Ensure products are cleared according to quality standards before release.
• Collaborate with the team on root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive measures.
• Provide quality-driven insights to enhance manufacturing processes.
• Maintain and upgrade quality management systems such as ISO 9001 and API Q1.
• Coordinate customer and external audits alongside the QA team.
• Supervise calibration and upkeep of all inspection instruments and utilize them to ensure measurement accuracy.

Educational and Professional Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or related discipline.
• At least five years of quality control experience within a manufacturing setting, preferably in casting or forging sectors.
• Knowledge and experience with API standards: API Q1, API 20A, and API 20B.

Technical Expertise

• Proficiency with inspection devices such as calipers, micrometers, Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), and ultrasonic testing equipment.
• Competence in quality inspection techniques including visual checks and non-destructive examination (NDE).
• Understanding of metallurgical characteristics and heat treatment procedures.
• Awareness of ASTM, EN, and API standards relevant to casting and forging industries.

Certifications and Skills

• NDE certification complying with ASNT or ISO 9712 Level II standards.
• Certification as a Quality Management System (QMS) Internal Auditor.
• Sharp analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Detail-oriented approach and strong communication skills.
