Role Overview

As a Programme Manager based at Mount Roskill, your primary responsibility will be to create engaging and memorable experiences for children during their before and after school hours. This is a part-time position requiring at least 15 hours weekly, scheduled Monday through Friday. Morning shifts span from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM, and afternoon shifts run from 2:30 PM until 6:00 PM, with afternoon availability being mandatory. There may also be opportunities to work during school holiday programmes within operating hours of 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage the daily operations of the sKids programme, overseeing all activities from preparation to closing down.
• Lead and supervise a large group of children, handling diverse behaviors while promoting a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment.
• Plan and facilitate a variety of structured activities including arts and crafts, sports, games, offsite excursions such as swimming, walks, and picnics, as well as baking, drama, and music sessions.
• Implement positive guidance methods to address behavioral challenges and support children with different needs.
• Serve as the primary communication link with parents, guardians, and school personnel, fostering professional relationships.
• Lead, mentor, and delegate tasks to Programme Assistants to maintain program quality and accountability.
• Prepare session materials and plan activities ahead of time to ensure smooth and successful programme delivery.

Qualities and Qualifications

• Legal eligibility to work in New Zealand (valid visa or citizenship required).
• Reliable transportation to the Mount Roskill (Marshall Laing) site.
• Proven leadership experience working with children in environments such as OSCAR programmes, teaching, coaching, childcare, or camps.
• Capability to manage challenging and energetic groups calmly and effectively.
• Experience independently managing programmes or teams, not merely assisting.
• Strong communication skills enabling confident interaction with parents, schools, and colleagues.
• Minimum age of 20 years as stipulated by Social Security (Childcare Assistance) Regulations 2004.
