Job description

Role Overview

The Network Performance Analysis and Contracts team is dedicated to examining provider network performance through detailed analysis, reporting, and consultation. Reporting to the Senior Director of Provider Services-Network, the Principal Data Analyst in Health will support various strategic and operational initiatives, delivering complex insights, recommendations, and acting as a collaborative thought partner across multiple business units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage projects from initiation to completion, engaging clients and stakeholders to achieve intended outcomes.
  • Engage directly with stakeholders via in-person meetings to acquire relevant data and insights.
  • Advise at all organizational levels, including senior management, influencing decisions through effective recommendations.
  • Partner cross-functionally to design and develop business solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as Contracting, Provider Partnerships, Delegation Oversight, and Provider Operations to enhance processes, ensure data integrity, and meet regulatory mandates affecting provider networks.
  • Conduct intricate analyses integrating qualitative and quantitative data to provide clear insights and recommendations for management review.
  • Present findings using various tools such as Excel pivot tables, PowerPoint, Tableau, reports, and structured data formats.
  • Identify core business challenges, formulate action plans, and oversee their execution to achieve successful results.
  • Lead the implementation of operational process changes, prepare training materials, mentor team members, and facilitate training sessions.
  • Create easily understandable deliverables for both internal and external customers and offer consultative presentations as needed.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Master’s level degree (MPH, MBA, MS, MA) in relevant fields such as science, social sciences, public health, MIS, computer science, data science, health services research, or business; alternatively, a bachelor’s degree with significant relevant experience is acceptable.
  • At least 10 years of experience in healthcare settings including managed care, academia, or government payers.
  • Proficient to advanced abilities in Microsoft Excel for modeling and formula use.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Access including linking tables and running queries, as well as experience with Tableau and SAS software.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, including experience presenting to executive leaders.
  • Highly developed problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Effective collaborator within diverse teams, capable of driving solutions and influencing organizational action without formal authority.
  • Ability to operate autonomously with a proactive approach and minimal supervision.

Work Environment and Additional Information

This position follows a hybrid onsite model requiring presence in the office approximately two days per week, facilitating purposeful in-person collaboration. Employees residing beyond 50 miles from the office coordinate in-office attendance with their manager based on business demands. Compensation

Salary ranges from $137,720 to $206,690 annually in California, and $155,248 to $232,996 for the Bay Area, reflective of experience, location, and internal equity.
