Position Summary

The Planning Manager leads and develops a team of planners, overseeing the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process to align demand, supply, inventory, and operational targets. This role provides strategic and operational planning leadership by setting and managing policies, business rules, and SOPs that promote operational excellence, service quality, and ongoing improvement. Collaborating broadly across functions, the manager ensures optimal planning outcomes supporting business priorities.

As the SAP S/4HANA ERP platform expert, the Planning Manager manages the development, upkeep, and enhancement of planning-related system functions, reports, and analytics. They provide actionable insights via advanced operational analysis to aid decision-making for operations and senior leadership. The role also includes designing SAP-based reports and Power BI KPI dashboards to deliver timely performance data organization-wide.

The position is based primarily at OrganOx’s Oxford facility with occasional international travel to Terumo sites in Europe, USA, and Asia.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and mentor planning team members, promoting accountability, skill development, succession planning, and a data-driven culture.
Facilitate cross-training and knowledge exchange to ensure continuous business operations.
Develop strong cross-functional collaborations within the company.
Manage end-to-end IBP processes aligning demand, supply, inventory, capacity, and financial goals.
Lead executive Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) and IBP review sessions.
Conduct scenario planning and risk evaluation to support strategic decision-making.
Translate strategic objectives into detailed operational planning.
Serve as SAP S/4HANA Planning SME overseeing planning procedures, master data governance, training, and ERP best practices.
Collaborate with IT and SAP support to implement system improvements and training.
Ensure accuracy and integrity of planning and supply chain data.
Assess and apply new SAP features and automation opportunities.
Create and maintain planning policies, SOPs, governance frameworks, and ensure compliance within a regulated manufacturing setting.
Standardize planning methodologies across the organization while maintaining audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
Oversee supply chain planning activities related to inventory, supply, demand, and capacity to optimize service, working capital, and continuity.
Develop mitigation strategies addressing shortages, excess inventories, and obsolescence.
Support activities related to new product introductions, lifecycle transitions, and phase-outs.
Monitor and manage key supply chain KPIs.
Provide advanced business analytics, forecasting, and decision support to senior executives.
Identify risks, trends, and improvement opportunities through data-driven analysis and support strategic initiatives.
Prepare executive-level reports and presentations assessing financial and operational impacts.
Design and sustain SAP reporting, Power BI dashboards, KPI scorecards, and automated reports while enhancing user experience.
Promote continuous improvement, process automation, digital transformation, and maturity in planning to boost efficiency and performance.

Requirements

Proven leadership experience managing planning, supply chain, or operations teams, including remote management.
Strong knowledge of Integrated Business Planning/S&OP, demand and supply planning, inventory management, and supply chain optimization.
Advanced expertise in SAP S/4HANA for planning, reporting, master data governance, and process enhancements.
Experience building Power BI dashboards and developing KPI and business intelligence reports.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills with experience reporting to senior leadership.
Track record in ERP implementations, digital transformation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, Logistics, Manufacturing, or similar field.
Minimum of 5 to 7 years’ experience in supply chain, production, demand, or operations planning roles.
At least 2 to 3 years in managerial or supervisory capacity overseeing planning or supply chain teams.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

Professional certifications such as Level 5 or 6 Diploma in Operations Management, CPIM, CSCP, CIPS, or membership in CILT.
Background in regulated sectors including medical devices, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or diagnostics.
Experience with SAP S/4HANA planning, reporting, auditing, regulatory compliance, or quality management system support.
Leadership in business transformation, ERP implementation, or digital projects.
