About the Role
Prairie Valley School Division seeks to employ a permanent full-time Caretaker at Emerald Ridge Elementary School, located in White City, Saskatchewan. The school serves approximately 475 students from Kindergarten through grade 8. This position is integral to maintaining a safe, clean, and healthy environment for students, staff, and visitors while supporting the overall daily functioning of the school’s facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine daily, weekly, monthly, and annual cleaning and maintenance tasks in accordance with the Caretaker Manual and Facilities Department standards.
- Conduct inspections and maintenance checks on HVAC systems, life safety equipment including fire panels, grounds, and other facilities.
- Collaborate with school administrators and staff to support school and community events.
- Manage inventory and availability of cleaning supplies and paper products.
- Ensure facility security by conducting daily security operations and responding to security alarms.
- Conduct minor repairs and maintenance independently and coordinate with Facility Maintenance Technicians as needed.
- Optimize building operational efficiency related to power, energy, and water usage.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by school administration and Facilities management.
Candidate Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in caretaking roles.
- Willingness to obtain or currently hold WHMIS certification and Fireman’s Certificate.
- Experience and proficiency in monitoring and resetting boilers and HVAC systems safely.
- Ability to operate equipment such as floor cleaning machines, wax strippers, snow blowers, and lawnmowers securely.
- Skills in basic building maintenance and repair tasks.
- Commitment to confidentiality and protecting privacy of staff and students.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly wage ranging between $22.91 and $26.79 CAD.

- Work schedule consists of 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, year-round (12 months).
