About Brown Mamas
Brown Mamas is a community organization based in Pittsburgh dedicated to empowering Black mothers. Through storytelling, programs, and culturally rooted care, it fosters connection and support for Black moms while strengthening related organizations and services supporting Black families.
Role Overview
We are looking for a passionate Online Community Manager to lead content creation and nurture engagement within our private Facebook community. This part-time contract role demands 10-15 hours weekly, combining remote work with some on-site responsibilities. The Community Manager will implement content strategies, produce live videos and reels, organize online events, and oversee moderators.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and share engaging, relevant content aligned with Brown Mamas’ brand and values within the private Facebook group, including updates on events and partner activities.
- Plan and coordinate an annual calendar of online events, including interviews with local leaders and experts, to enhance member engagement.
- Assist members in locating resources and escalate complex resource navigation issues to Care Navigators.
- Address conflicts among members and manage regular collection of member feedback.
- Host monthly online community meetings to communicate organizational culture, guidelines, and expectations.
Qualifications
- Must pass the Facebook Community Manager certification exam within six months (not initially required).
- Project management experience preferred, with training provided.
- At least three years of experience in community management, social media marketing, or related roles.
- Strong proficiency managing Facebook groups with knowledge of analytics and performance metrics.
- Experience in community outreach is an advantage.
- Outstanding managerial, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management and multitasking abilities.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends for quarterly events.
- Cultural competence and understanding of unique challenges faced by Black women.

Compensation and Commitment
The position offers $2000 per month compensation for 10-15 hours of work weekly.
