Job description
Role Overview
This full-time, on-site position is located at Ju Eng Home for Senior Citizens in Singapore. The Occupational Therapy Aide supports occupational therapists by assisting with rehabilitation programs aimed at enhancing residents' capabilities and independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare therapy areas and set up necessary equipment for rehabilitation sessions.
- Assist elderly residents with prescribed therapeutic exercises and activities of daily living.
- Guide and encourage resident participation during therapy and recreational activities.
- Observe and record basic responses and progress under the supervision of occupational therapists.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment conducive to therapy and resident well-being.
- Support patient care routines collaboratively with nursing and therapy teams to improve quality of life.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Effective communication skills to engage respectfully and empathetically with seniors, their families, and multidisciplinary staff.
- Basic understanding or experience in occupational therapy, especially in assisting therapeutic activities and daily living tasks.
- Familiarity with physical therapy and rehabilitation principles, particularly in eldercare or long-term care environments.
- A strong commitment to patient-centered care, delivering safe and dignified support to residents.
- Any relevant certification or training in therapy support, healthcare assistance, or eldercare is beneficial.
- Ability to accurately follow clinical instructions, maintain simple records, and adhere to infection control and safety protocols.
- Resilience and compassion in working with frail seniors, including those with cognitive or physical challenges.
