Overview
NHS Shetland is recruiting Multi-skilled Generic Support Workers to join its Hotel Services Department in Lerwick. This non-clinical role focuses on maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming environments across NHS Shetland sites, adhering to NHS Scotland national standards. The position offers an opportunity to engage in varied domestic service tasks and contribute to high-quality facility services.
Work Schedule and Compensation
The role is full-time, requiring 36 hours per week with varying start and finish times, mostly Monday to Friday. Occasional evening, night, and weekend shifts are expected to cover absences, with enhanced pay available for eligible shifts. Salary for Band 2 ranges from 3,696 to 3,988 per annum, plus a Distant Islands Allowance of 2,578 annually.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivery of essential cleaning and support services within the Hotel Services Department.
- Maintaining safe, comfortable, and suitable facilities for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Providing flexible support across various Domestic Services areas.
Applicant Requirements
- Effective communication skills coupled with flexibility and reliability.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings, nights, and weekends.
- A full driving licence is preferable to enable work at multiple Shetland sites.
- Commitment to comply with the Induction Standards and Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers within three months of starting.
Training and Support
Comprehensive training and induction will be provided, along with ongoing support from experienced staff until full competency in the role and procedures is achieved.
