About the Role

Downer, a leading integrated services company in Australia and New Zealand, is looking for an experienced Mill Operator skilled in operating Wirtgen asphalt profiling mills to join our Christchurch, Canterbury team. This role involves contributing to important road maintenance and rehabilitation projects across Canterbury and the broader South Island.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain Wirtgen milling machinery safely, ensuring high quality and productivity standards.
• Conduct pre-start inspections, routine servicing, and actively manage site hazards.
• Support the paving and surfacing crew effectively on-site.
• Work flexibly including travel and night shifts as required.

Candidate Requirements

• Proven hands-on experience with Wirtgen asphalt milling machines.
• Minimum Class 4 driver's licence; Class 5 preferred.
• Current WTR endorsements.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of plant maintenance.
• Background in civil construction, roading, surfacing, or infrastructure sectors.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions on-site.
• Positive attitude, flexibility to work outside standard hours, and willingness to support the team.
