Role Overview
As a Mechanical Engineer within our Advanced UAS and Sensor Systems division, you will design rugged, precision-engineered equipment utilized in critical defense and public safety missions. This position involves transforming concepts into manufacturable designs while engaging in analysis, prototyping, and supporting production within a dynamic engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Create designs for plastic, metal, and composite parts and assemblies leveraging SolidWorks software.
- Maintain and regularly update master 3D models, generating detailed manufacturing-grade 2D drawings.
- Develop prototypes employing rapid prototyping techniques such as 3D printing.
- Conduct engineering assessments including stress, thermal, airflow, and load analyses to inform design decisions.
- Collaborate closely with electrical, manufacturing, quality assurance, and reliability teams to ensure seamless development.
- Investigate and implement innovative technologies relevant to unmanned aerial systems (UAS).
- Support product verification through fixture design and comprehensive testing procedures.
- Lead design reviews and manage documentation release processes.
- Assist in production troubleshooting and contribute to continuous process improvements.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Proficient with SolidWorks for 3D modeling, assemblies, master files, and detailed drawings.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, applying past design experience to new challenges.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing techniques such as injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, casting, and welding.
- Experience performing trade-off engineering analyses.
- Hands-on expertise in prototype validation and product testing methodologies.
- Effective at managing project timelines, quality standards, and formal design release procedures.
Preferred Attributes
- Prior experience working with unmanned aerial systems or ruggedized hardware is advantageous.
- Educational background in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical fields.

Additional Information
Applicants must be eligible for certification under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and authorized to work legally in Canada.
Compensation is estimated between $93,700 and $124,900 annually, subject to factors like location, experience, education, and skills.
