Job description
Role Overview
The Manual QA Engineer will administer and implement established manual testing procedures to maintain product quality. This role involves assisting with routine test planning and performing execution tasks focused on UI, API, and performance verification in an operational delivery setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute and manage predefined test cases, checklists, and regression suites.
- Analyze results from test runs and manage defect reporting following prescribed protocols.
- Support preparing test data and ensuring testing environments are ready.
- Collaborate with developers to replicate issues encountered during testing.
- Gather test evidence such as screenshots, logs, and database records to support defect documentation and release approvals.
- Conduct routine smoke, sanity, regression, and operational tests following established plans and policies.
- Adapt assigned test cases to scope changes under guidance.
- Handle defect retests and closure procedures diligently.
Decision-Making and Autonomy
- Handle problems of moderate complexity.
- Use judgment according to defined procedures.
- Operate with some independence but receive guidance especially on new assignments.
Collaboration and Supervision
- Primarily liaise within the QA team.
- Engage with related teams to share information such as build notes, repro steps, and priorities.
- Perform work under general direction, with routine tasks checked periodically and detailed guidance for new projects.
Qualifications
- 2 to 4 years of proven experience in software testing; lesser experience is acceptable if the candidate holds an advanced degree or equivalent.
- Familiarity with test case management and defect tracking systems.
- Basic knowledge of UI, API, and performance testing concepts for manual testing execution.
Preferred Skills
- Hands-on experience with tools such as TestRail, Jira, REST clients, and browser developer tools.
- Certification like ISTQB Foundation or equivalent is a plus.
Travel and Legal Conditions
- This position requires no travel.
- Candidates must have full work authorization in Sofia, Bulgaria without visa sponsorship; visa sponsorship will not be provided.
