Role Overview
This full-time position is based at RX Plastics’ Ashburton site. The Maintenance Electrician is responsible for installing, inspecting, maintaining, and enhancing electrical systems including lighting, wiring, fuses, and control mechanisms. Duties include diagnosing faults and conducting repairs while adhering to electrical codes, blueprints, and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and continuously improve a preventive maintenance program to enhance equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Respond swiftly to electrical failures by diagnosing root causes and implementing corrective and preventive measures.
- Collaborate with the Electrical Team Leader to ensure critical spare parts are identified and stocked adequately.
- Maintain precise documentation, including backing up PLC programs and updating electrical schematics, and coordinate additional maintenance support as necessary.
- Identify and mitigate Health & Safety risks proactively by working with stakeholders to uphold a safe workplace.
- Review equipment performance regularly to refine maintenance strategies and support overall reliability and efficiency efforts with the maintenance team.
Candidate Profile
- Holds a recognised Electrical Trade Certificate along with Advanced Trade Certificates A & B (mandatory). Advanced Trade Electrical C & D, NZCE Electrical, or equivalent qualifications are preferred. A current Practising Licence is essential.
- Possesses a minimum of 5 years’ industrial electrical maintenance experience with hands-on expertise in electrical equipment upkeep and closed-loop control systems, including PID control.
- Proficient with PLC systems, preferably Omron and/or Siemens, exhibiting strong analytical and fault-finding abilities.
- Demonstrates a practical and safety-first mindset with solid understanding of Health & Safety standards.
