Role Overview

This full-time position is located onsite in Nairobi County, Kenya. The litigator will be responsible for handling a wide-ranging litigation caseload involving commercial, employment, public law, and intellectual property disputes from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compose pleadings, motions, written arguments, and legal opinions.
  • Formulate case litigation strategies.
  • Conduct extensive legal research on statutes, case law, and regulations.
  • Appear before courts and tribunals to manage hearings and trials.
  • Participate in settlement discussions, mediation, and arbitrations.
  • Carry out and defend depositions and witness interviews.
  • Coordinate closely with clients and internal teams.
  • Guide and mentor junior lawyers.
  • Uphold exemplary professional and ethical conduct.

Required Qualifications

  • Comprehensive legal education with proven civil and commercial litigation experience.
  • Proficient in drafting and arguing court documents like motions and submissions.
  • Experienced in court appearances across various judicial levels, managing timelines and case documentation.
  • Skilled in trial conduct, including strategy, evidence handling, witness examination, and advocacy.
  • Adept in managing depositions, witness interviews, and evidence gathering.
  • Admitted advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a current practicing certificate.
  • Exceptional oral and written advocacy abilities.
  • Strong legal research, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills, capable of complex, multi-jurisdictional issues.
  • Collaborative team player with ability to manage pressures and maintain professional integrity.
  • Prior experience in infrastructure and finance related legal matters is advantageous.
