Landscape Leader

About the Role

Northscape, one of Northland's leading landscape contractors, is expanding and seeks a skilled Landscape Leader for a permanent, full-time position based in the Far North District, Northland, New Zealand.

This hands-on leadership role primarily involves direct site management, oversight of subcontractors, and ensuring client satisfaction. Candidates should have solid experience in building, landscaping, or related trades with a clear understanding of exterior building and both hard and soft landscape practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Effectively communicate with staff, subcontractors, and clients to ensure smooth project delivery.
• Lead and motivate site teams through positive attitude and exemplary work ethic.
• Collaborate closely with Landscape Architects and Project Managers for project planning and preparation of pre-commencement documents.
• Ensure adherence to Occupational Health & Safety standards, maintaining proper documentation.
• Process and act on site instructions provided via the Landscape Architect and Project Manager.
• Compile and manage materials lists and place orders accordingly.
• Organize on-site scheduling and handle logistics for efficient workflow.
• Maintain accurate timesheet records for all site personnel.
• Document daily site activities comprehensively in a site diary.
• Assist in quantifying completed work for monthly payment claims.
• Execute various landscape and building tasks as required on site.

Experience and Skills

• Experience in a comparable landscape or builder leadership role is essential.
• Proficient in staff scheduling and site establishment activities including setting out.
• Ability to read and interpret plans accurately.
• Management skills for clients, subcontractors, and staff.
• Knowledge of landscape equipment use.
• Familiarity with paving, concrete foundation work including formwork, reinforcement placement, and concrete pouring.
• Concrete finishing skills advantageous but not mandatory.
• Competency in landscape carpentry and external building tasks.
• Experience with garden preparation, including planting of trees and shrubs.
• Skills in lawn preparation and installation.
• Competent with computers and tablets for work-related tasks.

Additional Information

Location and Working Hours

The position is located in Northland, New Zealand. Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Salary and Start Date

The role offers a salary starting at $70,000 per year, commensurate with experience and attitude. Immediate start availability is offered.
