Role Overview
We are seeking a Junior Full Stack Software Engineer eager to advance early in their career by engaging with meaningful software projects. You will collaborate with the "In Life" squad, focusing on maintaining and enhancing critical backend services, refining digital renewal customer experiences, and addressing complex engineering challenges. This position offers hands-on involvement with a variety of backend and frontend technologies, exposure to infrastructure as code, and the opportunity to work with Salesforce platform enhancements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend services using Node.js/TypeScript and Ruby on Rails.
- Contribute to frontend applications built with Nuxt.js that serve customers directly.
- Implement infrastructure as code using AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) within a serverless, event-driven framework.
- Engage with the Salesforce platform to develop batch processing jobs and enhance quoting tools.
- Adhere to established engineering development practices and standards.
- Incorporate artificial intelligence tools both in the software development lifecycle and into software solutions.
- Diagnose and resolve software bugs and issues.
- Ensure the robustness and security of all software components.
Candidate Profile
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to debug effectively and clearly communicate approaches.
- Experience with JavaScript and Node.js, ideally with TypeScript proficiency.
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms, particularly AWS.
- Working knowledge of Git and foundational understanding of continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) workflows.
- Appreciation for the role of testing within software engineering.
- Comfortable operating within structured development environments involving ticketing, prioritization, and deadlines.
- A collaborative team player open to feedback, pair programming, coaching, and code reviews.
- Capable of managing ambiguous requirements by asking insightful questions and iterating towards practical solutions.
