Role Overview
The IT Support Specialist will be responsible for delivering hands-on technical assistance to ensure stable, secure, and efficient technology services across Svante’s corporate and operational settings in Burnaby, British Columbia. This position reports to the IT Service Desk Team Lead and operates fully on-site, five days a week at 8800 Glenlyon Pkwy.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide timely, effective IT support to employees and contractors, handling technical requests and resolving issues within set Service Level Objectives.
- Manage IT service requests and incidents through designated channels, maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring prompt resolutions.
- Assist in employee onboarding and offboarding by provisioning accounts, preparing equipment, and managing access rights.
- Deploy and maintain Windows 10/11 laptops, including imaging, configuration, and lifecycle management.
- Keep an accurate inventory of IT assets and manage their maintenance and lifecycle.
- Troubleshoot meeting room technologies and user access problems.
- Administer core IT systems such as Active Directory, Microsoft 365 user accounts, mailboxes, and related services.
- Support network infrastructure—WAN, LAN, firewalls, switches, access points—in collaboration with the Infrastructure team.
- Assist with backup solutions, disaster recovery protocols, and adherence to security best practices.
- Create and update technical documentation, knowledge base articles, and standard operating procedures.
- Engage in continuous improvement activities, including technology enablement projects and automation initiatives.
- Provide IT support onsite at other company locations when necessary.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience in technical support, IT operations, or related fields with strong customer service orientation.
- Diploma or bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent education and experience.
- Proficient knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365 suite, SharePoint, Azure, and enterprise IT environments.
- Skilled in troubleshooting hardware, software, and access issues across multiple platforms.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals including VLANs, routing, switching, firewalls, and LAN/WAN configurations.
- Experience with Active Directory and Microsoft 365 user management, including account and mailbox administration.
- Familiarity with laptop imaging, deployment, provisioning, and asset lifecycle management.
- Experience utilizing IT Service Management (ITSM) tools and ticketing systems; knowledge of Atlassian products is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with aptitude for root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to assist users at all organizational levels.
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, MSCA, AZ-104 or equivalents are advantageous.
