Role overview

This position is for an IP Analyst Manager in Mumbai. The role focuses on examining patent-related information carefully, distilling key technical points clearly, and supporting a wide range of intellectual property activities.

What you will do

• Gather and analyze data from patent documents and non-patent sources to support patent analytics and draw meaningful conclusions.
• Work with AI-enabled IP tools to improve analysis and workflow efficiency.
• Assess inventions and prepare patentability opinions.
• Identify design-around possibilities for inventions that may not be patentable.
• Study patent portfolios and prepare technology landscape reports.
• Review patent drafts and help refine claim scope.
• Assist with patent drafting work.
• Examine responses to patent examination reports and contribute inputs for replies.
• Review external publications from an IP compliance standpoint.
• Support claim overlap analysis and standard mapping exercises.
• Create IP awareness content and help run training sessions.
• Compile information needed for IP audits.

Skills and domain knowledge

The role calls for strong familiarity with 6G, 5G and 4G telecom concepts, wireless technologies, chipsets, TCP/IP layers, cloud platforms, devices, and media delivery. A good understanding of intellectual property law in India is important, with knowledge of US and EPO practices being an advantage. You should also be comfortable with MS Office, including advanced Excel functions such as macros, formulas and search tools, along with AI-based IP tools. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Education and experience

Candidates should have at least a bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably ECE or CS, or a master’s degree in science in Electronics and Communication, Computer Science, or Information Technology. A patent agent qualification, diploma in IP, or an LLB with an IP specialisation is preferred. The role is intended for professionals with substantial experience in technology and intellectual property, and the eligibility note specifies a minimum of 6 years of experience.

Salary and availability

The compensation offered is INR 20,00,000 to 40,00,000 per year. There is 1 opening available, and the role is expected to begin immediately.
