Job description

Position Summary

Under the guidance of the Manager of Environmental Services, the Housekeeping Aide is responsible for ensuring that assigned areas within the Portage Regional Health Centre are kept clean, sanitary, safe, and well-organized to meet the highest standards of cleanliness. Duties consist primarily of general cleaning tasks throughout the facility.

Work Environment and Schedule

This full-time permanent role requires on-site work with an annual commitment of 2015 hours, working 7.75 hours daily across day, evening, and weekend shifts. The expected start date is August 31, 2026.

Qualifications

  • Minimum education of Grade 10 (Manitoba standard) or a relevant combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience in industrial or commercial housekeeping is required.
  • Ability to safely handle chemicals and cleaning agents as per manufacturer instructions and facility guidelines.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Proficient verbal and written comprehension of English; bilingual skills are essential for designated positions and desirable for others.
  • Competent in working both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to foster and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Effective problem-solving capabilities within the scope of responsibilities.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to changing environments, techniques, and procedures.
  • Respect for cultural diversity within the region is mandatory.
  • Maintain confidentiality across all forms of information handling.
  • Good attendance and reliable work record.
  • Possession of a valid Class 5 driver's license, use of an insured vehicle, and liability coverage of at least $1,000,000.
  • Physical and mental capability to meet job demands without exposure to hazardous or severely unpleasant conditions.
  • Availability for occasional evening or weekend shifts and potential travel to other regional facilities.

Salary and Benefits

The hourly wage for this role is $20.35.
