Hourly Library Intern - Web Developer

Job Overview

The City of Iowa City is hiring a part-time Hourly Library Intern specializing in web development within their Information Technology department.

Work Schedule and Compensation

• The position involves working 10 hours per week during the academic year.
• During academic breaks, hours may increase up to 20 per week, subject to approval.
• Compensation is provided at a rate of $16.00 per hour.

Role Responsibilities

Under the supervision of IT personnel, the intern will develop database-driven web applications, mainly using Drupal, to support both public-facing and internal websites.

Required Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in a college-level program in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience with PHP or JavaScript is mandatory.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check is required.

Preferred Skills and Interests

• Familiarity with object-oriented programming, MySQL databases, Bootstrap framework, HTML5, CSS, version control using Git, and CMS platforms is advantageous.
• An interest in cybersecurity, web accessibility standards, or user experience design is desirable.
