About the Role
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham invites applications for a Geospatial / GeoAI Analyst position based in Amritapuri, Kollam. The role is dedicated to developing advanced risk-mapping platforms and hazard-monitoring systems in real time. This position demands a hands-on, production-focused professional with deep expertise in geospatial programming, SAR data handling, and GeoAI analytics.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and manage dynamic geospatial workflows focused on real-time hazard and risk mapping.
- Process and interpret diverse geospatial datasets including satellite imagery, SAR, rainfall data, and terrain models.
- Develop GeoAI and machine learning models aimed at detecting patterns, forecasting events, and assessing risks.
- Analyze SAR datasets from sources like Sentinel-1, ALOS, and NISAR to monitor deformation, flooding, and other hazards.
- Design and implement web-based geospatial dashboards and applications.
- Automate geospatial data processing pipelines using Python or R frameworks.
- Integrate analytical results into operational early warning and decision-support systems.
Qualifications and Skills
- Master’s degree (M.Tech or MSc) in Geoinformatics, GIS, Remote Sensing, Geospatial Sciences, or related disciplines from a reputed institution.
- Proficient in Python (libraries such as GeoPandas, Rasterio, GDAL, xarray) or R (terra, sf, raster, stars) for geospatial programming.
- Practical experience with ArcGIS and QGIS desktop applications.
- Familiarity with ArcGIS Online tools including Web App Builder, Dashboards, and StoryMaps.
- Demonstrated expertise in SAR data processing and analysis, ideally with Sentinel-1 and InSAR.
- Experience utilizing Google Earth Engine (GEE) platform.
- Thorough understanding of geospatial data processing workflows, raster and vector data management, spatial analysis, and modeling techniques.
- Competence in applying GeoAI, machine learning, and deep learning methods to geospatial datasets.
