Overview
As the Fleet Executive Director, you will take charge of overseeing all aspects of the organization's fleet operations, providing strategic direction and operational oversight to ensure the highest levels of efficiency, asset performance, and alignment with business goals. This senior leadership role is pivotal in driving digital transformation initiatives, optimizing fleet utilization, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic plans for comprehensive fleet management, fully aligned with the company's long-term vision.
- Direct all departments within the Fleet Division, inspiring a culture of continual improvement and operational excellence.
- Shape operational frameworks for ongoing activities and future fleet growth initiatives across multiple sites.
- Track vital operational metrics, communicate performance insights, and present executive summaries to the board.
- Manage all facets of fleet operations, including daily vehicle management, spare parts oversight, procurement, and warehouse coordination.
- Drive initiatives to reduce vehicle downtime, optimize fleet scheduling, and elevate service standards for internal and external clients.
- Oversee procurement, contracting, technical specification reviews, and enforce strict supplier selection and contract compliance processes.
- Conduct supplier performance appraisals and address deficiencies with corrective action plans.
- Lead recruitment for key management positions within the fleet team, and invest in organizational development and succession planning for sustained growth.
- Establish and control fleet division budgets, scrutinize costs, and champion savings and efficiency measures.
- Ensure full adherence to industry and governmental regulations, champion quality, safety, and environmental policies, and proactively manage operational risks.
- Pioneer digital integration projects, overseeing implementation of fleet and maintenance management systems, GPS tracking, and leveraging analytics to inform strategic decisions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related areas required.
- MBA or Master’s in Operations Management, Logistics, or a similar discipline is preferred.
- Professional certifications in Project Management, Supply Chain, Procurement, or Fleet Management are advantageous.
Experience
- Minimum of 12 years managing fleet, transport, leasing, or logistics operations.
- At least 8 years in a senior or executive leadership capacity, preferably with multi-site team oversight.
- Demonstrated success in leading large vehicle fleets, contract management, procurement, and digital transformation initiatives.
Core Skills
- Expertise in strategic planning, leadership, and organizational development.
- Deep understanding of procurement, contract management, and supplier relationship management.
- Strong budgeting, financial acumen, and risk management abilities.
- Proficiency in digital technologies, data analytics, and performance management systems.
