Job description
About Quartz
Quartz is innovating wealth management by providing a personalized intelligence platform. It is a unique wealth platform that actively learns from user interactions, aligns with their financial objectives, and assists in making confident and informed investment decisions within a secure environment. It delivers the expertise of a personal banker available around the clock at a reduced cost.
Role Overview
We seek our inaugural Financial Adviser to influence the development of Charlie, our AI-driven financial advisor. This role combines refining how the AI generates advice and direct interaction with customers to improve product and advice quality at scale.
This hybrid position involves dividing time between training the AI by establishing advice standards, assessing its reasoning under different scenarios, cataloging exceptional cases, and engaging with clients to gather insights. You will also collaborate closely with regulators to ensure full compliance from the outset.
This role is not focused on managing people but requires someone with an innovative mindset capable of challenging traditional private banking approaches and redesigning them for a technology-centric platform. Ideal candidates thrive in flexible environments and seek impactful, meaningful work beyond a typical nine-to-five framework.
Responsibilities
- Train the AI advisor Charlie by developing advisory frameworks, reviewing AI outputs, collecting illustrative examples, and translating complex judgement calls into learnable formats
- Engage directly with customers to conduct advisory discussions that enhance both the product and AI capabilities
- Collaborate with product teams, engineering, and machine learning specialists to embed financial advisory principles into software features
- Guide the company’s regulatory compliance strategy ahead of obtaining MiFID permissions, closely working with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)
- Develop and maintain internal documentation such as guidelines, playbooks, and quality standards for financial advice
Requirements
- Minimum qualification: RQF Level 4 in Financial Planning, AQL recognized
- At least three years of experience with prestigious financial advisory firms or private banks such as Coutts, Rothschild, Rathbones, Evelyn, Quilter, or similar
- In-depth knowledge of UK financial regulatory environments, including FCA handbook compliance, suitability assessments, and MiFID II regulations
- Demonstrated comfort and familiarity with technology tools, data processes, and ideally, experience with large language models (LLMs) or AI prompting
- Proactive self-starter who can not only solve problems but define them with original thinking
- Ability to apply first principles thinking rather than relying on previous methodologies
- Fluent in English
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in startups or scale-ups; entrepreneurial mindset evidenced by side projects or similar initiatives
- Possession of CFA or other equivalent credentials
- Prior involvement in AI model training or evaluation
- Exposure to fintech innovations, robo-advisory services, or digital wealth management platforms
