About the Role
Join Thermo Fisher Scientific in Singapore as a Field Service Engineer, where you'll play a vital role in installing, maintaining, repairing, and updating our advanced hardware and automation systems for bioprocessing and other scientific applications. This position involves hands-on customer consultation at client locations across your assigned territory, contributing to impactful solutions addressing global challenges such as environmental safety, food protection, and cancer research.
Primary Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive service for instruments and equipment, including installations, basic user training, routine maintenance, repairs, and compliance checks.
- Create and contribute to service procedures and documentation essential for operational excellence.
- Collaborate with internal teams to enhance customer satisfaction and streamline service delivery.
- Ensure prompt responses to customer queries and efficient problem resolution to maintain high customer satisfaction.
- Provide accurate and timely reports detailing service activities and customer interactions.
- Conduct commissioning and validation activities by executing Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) and Installation/Operational Qualification (IQ/OQ) protocols.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with customers within your area of responsibility.
- Support the Service Sales Representative with service order management and coordination.
- Contribute to product quality enhancement and participate in projects focused on optimizing the service function.
Working Conditions
- Standard work schedule: Monday through Friday.
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 40 pounds without help.
- Adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and strict safety standards is mandatory.
- Work environments include cleanrooms where restrictions on personal items such as hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfumes, exposed piercings, and facial hair are enforced.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) like safety glasses, gowns, gloves, lab coats, and ear protection is required.
- Occasionally handle hazardous or toxic substances safely as per guidelines.
Candidate Profile and Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in computer technology, electrical/electronics, automation, biology, or chemistry is preferred.
- Experience of two or more years in bioprocessing, bioproduction automation, equipment maintenance/design, software control, or chromatography techniques is desired.
- Possess strong analytical skills to identify and implement improvements both in customer experience and internal processes.
- Familiarity with Delta V or similar control software is advantageous.
- Exemplary teamwork capabilities to collaborate globally with colleagues and clients.
- Self-driven with excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows OS, PC hardware, and office software applications.
- Willingness to travel frequently and extensively as required to meet customer needs.
