Job description
Position Overview
The Facilities Services Representative (FSR) reports directly to the Team Lead of Hospitality Services and is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in non-patient care areas within the hospital environment, handling waste and linen, supporting project tasks, coordinating moves, and setting up meeting rooms for hospital events.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Completion of Grade 12 or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
- Effective communication skills with both customers and colleagues.
- Ability to work efficiently within a team setting.
- A positive attitude and proactive approach to workplace challenges.
- Demonstrated compassion for patient comfort and care.
- Capability to read instructions, apply basic mathematics, and follow guidelines.
- Proven strong work performance and consistent attendance record in previous roles.
- Physical ability to conduct heavy lifting as required.
- Flexibility to adjust to changing schedules, tasks, and environments.
- Self-motivated to work with minimal supervision and manage responsibilities in a fast-paced context.
- Successful completion of required training within the probation period.
- Competency in handling various industrial cleaning chemicals safely.
- Adept at performing overhead cleaning tasks.
- Comfortable working using safety ladders.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience in hospital housekeeping duties.
- Experience operating hospital-standard equipment such as auto scrubbers, burnishers, swing machines, and steamers safely.
- Skills in floor refinishing including stripping and waxing floors, and carpet cleaning.
- Experience using industrial washers and dryers safely.
- Familiarity with basic technology including computers, pagers, and smartphones.
- Clean Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute essential cleaning tasks ensuring cleanliness of public and non-patient areas, including care of internal and external equipment.
- Replenish supplies throughout various hospital areas.
- Manage laundry tasks such as inventory handling, distribution, and online ordering.
- Operate industrial washing and drying machines.
- Handle all core housekeeping duties including waste collection, disposal, and transportation according to established policies.
- Participate in scheduled cleaning projects as assigned.
- Maintain and operate equipment like the compactor, shredder, and bailer and keep appropriate records.
- Report maintenance requirements to the Team Lead.
- Safely transport equipment and supplies within hospital locations using correct handling procedures.

Physical Requirements
- Occasional lifting of 10 to 25 pounds; occasional carrying and pushing/pulling.
- Infrequent lifting up to 60 pounds; carrying and pushing/pulling also required occasionally.
- Frequent standing and walking on hard floors.
- Occasional crouching, squatting, foot activation; rare bending, stooping, and climbing.
- Frequent use of arms and hands for reaching, handling; occasional fine motor skills needed.
