Job Overview
This role is based in Pune and requires a Diploma or B.E. in Mechanical/Automobile Engineering with relevant experience in automotive diagnostics or technical publications. The position centers on the creation of detailed diagnostic documentation and troubleshooting procedures related to automotive electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop stepwise troubleshooting guides for automotive diagnostics.
- Compose detailed procedures for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), including code explanations and necessary mechanical/electrical checks.
- Create and maintain technical documentation consistent with assigned project scope.
- Use technical data such as DUD, SOD, Part 2 Specifications, and wiring schematics to develop diagnostic instructions.
- Apply knowledge of structured authoring (XML) and adhere to aftersales documentation standards.
- Perform system teardowns, removals, assemblies, and disassemblies to accurately document processes.
- Validate troubleshooting processes on actual vehicle systems or through simulations.
- Engage with client contacts and subject matter experts to gather product-specific data.
- Participate actively in meetings with clients and internal teams.
- Utilize tools including ArborText, XMetaL, Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Word, and Excel to produce documentation.
- Report project progress and potential risks to management.
- Support and train junior documentation authors.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by producing quality outputs on schedule and adhering to standards.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Diploma in Mechanical/Automobile Engineering with 3-4 years of relevant experience or B.E. in Mechanical/Automobile Engineering with 2-3 years' experience.
- Background in automotive electrical diagnostic troubleshooting at dealerships or OEMs, or experience in technical publication and diagnostic authoring.
- Proficiency in interpreting electrical wiring diagrams and understanding complex vehicle systems such as ADAS, powertrain, and chassis.
- Hands-on expertise in vehicle electrical diagnostic processes.
- Strong analytical capabilities for troubleshooting.
- Experience with illustration software, specifically Adobe Illustrator CS2.
- Effective communication skills and ability to handle customer interactions.
