Job description

Overview

As a Dispenser at Boots UK, you will play an essential role within the pharmacy team, supporting pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to deliver safe and efficient pharmacy services. Positioned within the healthcare section of the store, your responsibilities will span from greeting customers to dispensing prescriptions, ensuring the accurate and safe sale of medicines, and offering health advice to assist patients in making informed wellness decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Dispensing prescriptions accurately, including medicine ordering, labelling, endorsing, and managing prescription collections while ensuring patient safety.
  • Collaborating with healthcare team members in-store to support the management and provision of pharmacy services.
  • Providing patients with advice and care regarding medications and referring complex queries to the pharmacist when necessary.
  • Adhering strictly to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to guarantee safe and legal prescription dispensing.
  • Keeping abreast of new developments and innovations, complying with operational guidelines and processes.
  • Helping patients effectively manage their medicines with reliable repeat prescriptions aimed at boosting adherence and minimizing waste.

Additional Information

You will have the chance to work with advanced dispensing technologies that improve safety and allow more patient interaction time. Continuous training and career development opportunities are offered, including routes to become a Pharmacy Technician or join store leadership.

This is an on-site role within the UK. Remote applications will not be accepted, and applicants must have relevant UK qualifications and legal work rights. The position involves mandatory pre-employment checks such as DBS, PVG, or Access NI depending on location. Qualifications & Eligibility

  • Completion of Pharmacy Advisor NVQ2 or equivalent qualification; alternatively, candidates who have completed the first year of an MPharm degree are also eligible.
  • Valid UK right to work is mandatory; the role does not support Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous community pharmacy experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Compensation & Benefits

  • The hourly remuneration starts at £13.92, rising up to £16.64 in selected London locations.
