Position Overview
The Director of E-Commerce – Business Performance is responsible for steering the digital commercial strategy and enhancing the online business success across a portfolio of brands. This role focuses on driving revenues, profitability, customer growth, and retention while fostering a data-driven and customer-centric approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the e-commerce business performance for multiple brands, accountable for revenue, conversion rates, average order value, customer acquisition and retention, and lifetime value.
- Monitor daily business metrics to identify risks and opportunities; implement corrective actions to meet financial goals.
- Develop annual business plans, seasonal strategies, and quarterly growth initiatives in collaboration with Merchandising, Planning, and Finance teams.
- Lead weekly business reviews leveraging data and customer insights to guide prioritization and resource allocation.
- Balance achieving short-term goals while maintaining long-term brand integrity and customer value.
- Craft digital go-to-market strategies aligning with seasonal launches, promotions, and business objectives.
- Collaborate with Merchandising, Marketing, Creative, and Planning to ensure coordinated product launches and promotional tactics that reflect brand identity and maximize engagement.
- Track consumer and competitive trends to adapt future strategies.
- Drive initiatives to boost customer acquisition, repeat sales, and lifetime value in partnership with CRM, Loyalty, and Paid Media teams.
- Lead personalization efforts using data segmentation and modern e-commerce technologies to enhance onsite experience, merchandising, offers, and customer journeys.
- Continuously improve site navigation, merchandising, content presentation, and promotional execution to simplify customer journeys and increase conversions.
- Work closely with Technology and UX teams to define requirements for new features and platform enhancements, ensuring rigorous testing and optimization.
- Utilize analytics to translate customer behavior, market trends, and performance metrics into actionable business insights and recommendations.
- Set clear metrics for business initiatives, report outcomes to executive leadership, and proactively identify risks and opportunities.
- Lead and develop a high-performing cross-functional e-commerce team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning.
- Partner with senior leadership to build organizational capabilities and cultivate future leaders.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA is preferred.
- Over 10 years of progressive leadership experience in e-commerce within retail, apparel, or consumer brand sectors.
- Proven track record managing digital businesses with responsibility for revenue and commercial outcomes.
- Experience managing multiple brands or business units in complex retail environments.
- Skilled in digital go-to-market strategies that drive measurable growth.
- Deep understanding of customer acquisition, CRM, loyalty, retention, and lifetime value methodologies.
- Experience leading personalization initiatives leveraging customer data, behavioral insights, and contemporary e-commerce platforms.
- Familiarity with Salesforce Commerce Cloud and modern e-commerce ecosystems.
- Strong analytical, financial, and communication abilities with executive presence.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing and developing teams.
- Passion for cultivating customer-focused brands and dynamic teams.
