Role Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our Bakery team as a Department Second. In this role, you will provide professional and courteous customer service, perform production and merchandising duties within the Bakery Department, and supervise bakery staff in the absence of the Bakery Manager. You will help cultivate an employee-focused environment centered on coaching and development.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional customer service tailored to meet customer needs.
- Lead and oversee bakery personnel when the Bakery Manager is unavailable.
- Encourage and promote a culture of coaching and employee development.
- Complete customer bakery order fulfillment efficiently.
- Receive and manage incoming bakery orders.
- Carry out bakery production tasks with quality and consistency.
- Merchandise bakery products to maintain appealing displays.
- Apply SMART retailing principles specific to the Atlantic region.
- Ensure sanitation standards are consistently maintained.
- Follow and enforce all pertinent company policies and standards.
- Perform administrative duties as necessary.
Qualifications and Skills
- At least 12 months of relevant experience.
- Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, above average.
- Demonstrated good work ethic and multitasking ability.
- High school diploma or equivalent education.

The role involves minimal travel estimated at 0–10%. The position is located in Halifax, Nova Scotia at the Clayton Park Sobeys store (postal code B3M 3Y7).
