Role Overview

We seek a seasoned Data Science & AI Engineer to join our team at the Avionics manufacturing site, part of the Avionics Industry Centre of Excellence. The engineer will develop intelligent systems converting operational data into actionable insights, empowering users to make dependable, data-driven decisions through AI and analytics.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and implement computer vision algorithms, machine learning models, and AI solutions tackling challenges like object and anomaly detection, classification, behavior analysis, and smart data querying.
• Develop, maintain, and automate scalable data pipelines for collecting, cleansing, and transforming data in support of AI and analytics workflows.
• Work closely with Engineering, Operations, and Centres of Excellence stakeholders to gather needs, spot opportunities, and propose effective AI-based solutions.
• Lead and contribute to agile proof-of-concept initiatives, performing realistic experiments to validate, tune, and ensure AI model robustness prior to deployment.
• Apply Data Science and AI to revolutionize operational processes in manufacturing, testing, and maintenance for greater efficiency and automation.
• Keep up to date with cutting-edge developments in AI, machine learning, computer vision, and data engineering, proactively adopting innovative technologies to deliver business value.
• Produce thorough technical documentation, participate in patent development, share knowledge via technical talks, and for senior roles, provide domain leadership and mentoring.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline specializing in Data Science and AI.
• Minimum 1 year of software engineering experience with hands-on involvement in developing and deploying AI/ML applications and platforms.
• Practical experience with computer vision and machine learning across diverse projects.
• Proficiency in Python, C++, or C programming, along with experience using ML frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, OpenCV, and familiarity with MLOps tools such as KubeFlow.
• Comprehensive knowledge of deep learning models including CNNs and vision transformers, especially for image and video analysis tasks.
• Strong analytical aptitude and adeptness in handling large-scale datasets.
• Excellent communication skills capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
