About the Role
The World Bank Group, a global partnership of five institutions aiming to end poverty and protect the planet, is seeking a Data Analyst based in Washington, DC. This full-time position in the Finance & Accounting sector supports budget, planning, procurement, analytics, and reporting functions across the organization for a term of 3 years.
Organizational Context
The position is part of the WBG Budget and Procurement function, specifically within the Centers of Excellence which focus on integrated, data-driven budget operations including reforms, automation, and enhanced decision-making support. The Budget Solutions unit leads institution-wide systems, data management, reporting, and technology-enabled budget solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business and technical teams to identify data needs and opportunities for improving budget analytics and client services.
- Extract, clean, validate, and organize structured and unstructured datasets ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Conduct exploratory analyses and produce visual summaries, dashboards, and recurring reports using tools like Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, or R.
- Contribute to the creation, testing, and documentation of predictive models, reporting tools, mobile apps, and AI-driven solutions with senior guidance.
- Maintain and update reports, dashboards, data sets, and model outputs; address data quality issues and assist troubleshooting.
- Support user testing, documentation, and knowledge transfer to enable business users to leverage data insights effectively.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in information systems, data science, computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, finance, business analytics, or a related field with at least 2 years relevant experience.
- Proficiency in SQL and knowledge of a programming language such as Python or R with hands-on experience preparing datasets and supporting analytics or reporting.
- Sound understanding of statistical analysis, data modeling, visualization, and dashboard creation applied to business questions.
- Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau to develop clear and actionable reports and dashboards.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, commitment to data quality, documentation, testing, and timely delivery.
- Effective communication skills for explaining technical findings to non-technical stakeholders and working collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Experience in finance, budgeting, performance management, or working in complex large organizations is advantageous.
