About the company

Avara Foods is a major UK food manufacturer supplying chicken and turkey to leading supermarkets and popular restaurant chains. The business operates across its own end-to-end supply chain, from farms and processing sites through to delivery, with a broad footprint across England, North Yorkshire, the South Coast and Wales.

About the role

Avara Foods is hiring a skilled and proactive Data Analyst to join its Data Engineering team in Brackley. This position is based on site and follows a Monday to Friday schedule, 08:00 to 17:00.

The role is focused on turning raw information into useful insight that supports smarter decisions, improves operational performance, and helps teams work more efficiently. You will create and maintain dependable data models, reports, and analytical outputs that enable data-led decision-making across the business.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with teams across the business to understand operational needs and convert them into clear analysis and visual reporting.
  • Develop and support data models and pipelines that bring together information from several sources for reporting and analysis.
  • Create and refine dashboards and reports in tools such as Power BI and Oracle Analytics Cloud so users can quickly interpret results.
  • Check data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency by carrying out validation, cleansing, and reconciliation activities.
  • Automate regular reporting and data processes using SQL, Python, and workflow tools such as Power Automate, Logic Apps, and OIC.
  • Perform detailed analysis to uncover patterns, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist business users with ad hoc queries and self-service reporting needs.
  • Maintain documentation for data structures, models, and analytical methods to support clarity and knowledge sharing.
  • Keep up to date with new tools and best practices in analytics, business intelligence, and automation.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a Data Analyst role or another role with a strong data focus.
  • Good understanding of how business processes work and how data supports decision-making.
  • Hands-on experience building reports, dashboards, and data models with modern BI platforms such as Power BI, Oracle Analytics Cloud, or Business Objects.
  • Strong SQL capability, ideally with Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle Database.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a structured and careful approach.
  • Good organisation and documentation skills.
  • Advanced ability in Microsoft Excel and Power BI.
  • Desirable: Microsoft or Oracle data certifications.
  • Desirable: BCS qualification in Business Analysis or Data Analysis.
  • Desirable: Experience with automation or middleware tools such as Power Automate, OIC, or Azure Logic Apps.
  • Desirable: Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, Microsoft Azure Data & Integration Services, Oracle Integration Cloud, Oracle Analytics Cloud, Oracle Data Integrator, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services, and Microsoft Data Fabric.

Benefits

  • Annual salary of £35,000 to £45,000, depending on experience.
  • 31 days of annual leave.
  • 6% employer-matched pension contributions.
  • Company life assurance cover.
  • Access to lifestyle perks such as cashback offers, retail discounts, and reduced cinema ticket prices.
  • Wellbeing support including free online health advice, assistance, and wellbeing assessments.
  • Training and ongoing development to support long-term career growth.
  • A secure, supportive, and progressive workplace where achievements are recognised and rewarded.
