Role Overview
This full-time, on-site Control Room Operator role involves overseeing plant and power generation system performance from the control room. Responsibilities include responding to alarms, adjusting operating parameters to maintain safety and efficiency, tracking steam production and process variables, recording data, and escalating concerns to maintenance and operational teams. Daily duties encompass coordinating with field operators, maintaining effective communication with supervisors, adhering to standard operating procedures, and assisting in start-up, shutdown, and emergency processes.
Compliance and Continuous Improvement
The role requires strict observance of safety, environmental, and regulatory standards while actively supporting continuous improvements in plant reliability and output.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience managing control room operations, including centralized monitoring of plant systems.
- Understanding of plant workflows and operational parameters with capability to modify systems accordingly.
- Knowledge of power generation concepts and equipment, ideally in power plants or industrial energy contexts.
- Experience with steam systems and process control focusing on pressure, temperature, and flow metrics.
- Excellent communication abilities for accurate reporting, handoffs, and collaboration with operations, maintenance, and management teams.
- Relevant technical education or apprenticeship in engineering, power plant operations, or related areas; experience in industrial or mining settings is a plus.
- Competency with control systems such as DCS/SCADA, basic computer literacy, and meticulous adherence to procedures and safety protocols.
- Capability to work in shifts, maintain focus in high-responsibility scenarios, and sustain health, safety, and environmental compliance.
