Construction Supervisor (Instrumentation)

Overview

Airswift, an international workforce solutions provider specializing in energy, process, and infrastructure sectors, seeks a Construction Supervisor for Instrumentation to join a major Oil & Gas company in Qatar. This role demands extensive expertise in construction supervision within the instrumentation and control systems domain.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree from a recognized university or diploma in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering with significant construction experience.
• Completion of courses related to Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), Quality Assurance & Quality Control (QAQC), and Construction management is expected.
• Minimum 15 years of overall experience in Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) construction, installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning, especially within oil and gas industries or large-scale solar photovoltaic projects.
• Strong communication and conflict resolution skills to effectively engage with internal teams, contractors, vendors, and regulatory agencies.

Technical Expertise

• In-depth knowledge of Instrumentation & Control systems including sensors, transmitters, controllers, PLCs, SCADA, and other relevant equipment.
• Proven ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, control system layouts, method statements, and construction schedules accurately.
• Experience with construction project management, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards.
• Competence in resolving site issues both technically and contractually.
• Familiarity working with multinational contractors and implementing industry best practices, standards, and processes.

Primary Responsibilities

• Supervise EPIC contractors during construction activities ensuring compliance with specifications and contractual requirements.
• Review detailed design documents, method statements, material requisitions, and coordinate contractor mobilization/demobilization.
• Conduct daily inspections of work and contractor staff performance to ensure adherence to quality and safety standards.
• Oversee Electrical and Instrumentation construction activities including site investigations, surveys, and installation of earthing systems.
• Manage installation of cable trays, fire alarm system cabling, instrument control and power cables, fiber optic cables, fire alarm control panels, repeater panels, mimic panels, and control junction boxes.
• Coordinate with Mechanical, HVAC, Fire Alarm, Loss Prevention, and Building Services teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Supervise cable termination, loop checking, and pre-commissioning activities; assist during commissioning phases.
• Initiate and facilitate issuance of Mechanical Completion Certificates, Hand Over Certificates, Acceptance Certificates, and Project Completion Certificates.
• Witness site acceptance tests and maintain accurate daily progress records and reports on work anomalies.
• Authorize work permits ensuring full compliance with company policies.
• Collaborate closely with other construction supervisors across disciplines and assist in developing as-built documentation and punch lists for final project handover.

Additional Information

This role is based on-site in Doha, Qatar, and involves supervising large-scale projects, including oil and gas and solar power installations. Multinational contractor experience is highly valued.
