Overview
Heidelberg Materials Australia is seeking a motivated and customer-oriented individual to join as a Concrete Batcher at our Bendigo location in Victoria. This position provides excellent opportunities for career advancement with comprehensive training in plant operations, concrete batching, scheduling, logistics, and quarry materials. Candidates from diverse backgrounds including hospitality, logistics, agriculture, and more are encouraged to apply, as prior concrete experience is not necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of the concrete batch plant, ensuring positive leadership and accountability.
- Operate front-end loader machinery, with training available if needed.
- Interact professionally with customers by handling orders, scheduling deliveries, and resolving inquiries.
- Utilize computer systems for batching, scheduling, reporting, and documentation tasks.
- Collaborate effectively with local teams and neighboring sites, demonstrating initiative and team leadership.
- Champion a strong safety mindset, including coaching and mentoring teammates.
- Maintain quality control standards to ensure product excellence.
- Supervise performance of plant and equipment, organizing maintenance when necessary.
- Coordinate and plan maintenance and production duties, including manual handling tasks.
Candidate Profile

- Reliable, detail-focused, and works methodically and efficiently.
- Comfortable with digital tools and quick to adopt new computer systems.
- Able to work autonomously as well as contribute to team efforts.
- Articulate, respectful, and professional in communication with customers and colleagues.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including Monday-Friday with rostered Saturday mornings and possible overtime.
- Possesses or is willing to obtain required safety certifications such as Construction Card / White Card.
- Front-end loader experience is a plus but not required.
- Dedicated to supporting the company’s Zero Harm safety initiative.
- Physically capable of meeting the role’s demands safely.
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting hourly wage from $30.35, with potential to earn up to $33.36 depending on experience and skills.
- Standard Monday to Friday shifts with scheduled Saturday mornings finishing by midday.
