About ICCA

The International Cybersecurity Community for Africa (ICCA) is a pan-African organization dedicated to enhancing cyber resilience on the continent through collaboration, capacity building, standards, research, innovation, and advocacy. ICCA mobilizes cybersecurity professionals, researchers, entrepreneurs, institutions, and partners to tackle evolving digital security challenges, focusing on impactful, practical, and inclusive initiatives to promote knowledge sharing and digital security across Africa.

Role Overview

The Community Manager position is a full-time, onsite role based in Kigali, Rwanda. The primary responsibility is to cultivate and expand ICCA's cybersecurity community throughout Africa. This includes organizing community engagement functions such as events, meetups, online dialogues, and collaborative activities involving members and partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement community interaction strategies including events and online forums.
  • Manage communication platforms, produce and curate content for social media and community channels.
  • Respond promptly to member queries and maintain regular updates and information flow.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity experts, institutions, and partners to support programs and capacity-building efforts.
  • Collect feedback from community members to enhance services and offerings.
  • Track community metrics, prepare performance reports, and propose actionable improvements to boost involvement and impact.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven experience in community management and stakeholder engagement with professional networks.
  • Excellent communication skills including verbal, written, presentation, and group facilitation capabilities.
  • Skilled in event planning and managing community-led workshops and meetups.
  • Familiarity with digital community platforms, social media tools, and analytics.
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles with eagerness to expand knowledge related to Africa's cybersecurity scene.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of individuals and organizations across countries.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, social sciences, technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of additional African or international languages is advantageous.
  • Experience in community building, nonprofit operations, or technology sectors in Africa is a bonus.
