Role overview
Wood is looking for a Commissioning Manager to join its Qatar team for a long-term assignment. The role supports brownfield and greenfield work across oil and gas, with emphasis on onshore and offshore environments.
What you will do
- Create commissioning and start-up plans, procedures, and integrated project commissioning plans.
- Build the systemization approach, including commissioning system definitions, activity breakdowns, and testing scope.
- Prepare work execution flow schemes, CSU schedules, and activity lists for commissioning and start-up.
- Plan required resources, vendor support, special tools, temporary facilities, and task durations.
- Compile commissioning consumables and spare parts records in ESPIR.
- Set up and manage the Project to Asset Transfer process, including physical assets and information-management documents.
- Lead efforts to prevent repeat failures and ensure flawless CSU deliverables.
- Coordinate with operations, maintenance, P&T ORA teams, and construction teams on commissioning matters.
- Support Go Completion activities when needed, including inputs requested by CSU/OR leadership.
- Secure sign-off for key completion documents such as RFSU certificates, PSSR walkdowns, punch lists, and red-line markups of PEFS, HOLM, cause-and-effect diagrams, process control narratives, datasheets, ISO documents, and similar records.
- Assist with turnaround events when requested by the asset and approved by QPH.
Experience and background
This position calls for a strong commissioning professional with substantial brownfield oil and gas design and engineering experience, plus hands-on exposure to operations and project engineering. Prior CSU leadership, knowledge of systematic pre-commissioning methods, and familiarity with major-project execution tools and practices are important. Experience in the Middle East is valuable, and exposure to GTL, LNG, gas-facility integration, offshore systems, FEED, and front-end engineering will be an advantage.
