Position Overview
St. Regis Hotels & Resorts in Singapore is seeking a Commis to join their culinary team. This role entails preparing special meals, managing kitchen equipment temperatures, and ensuring the quality and presentation of various dishes. The Commis will also be responsible for maintaining food logs, monitoring inventory, and communicating with the chef and service staff regarding menu specials and stock status.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare special meals and substitute food items as needed.
- Control oven, broiler, grill, and roaster temperatures efficiently.
- Thaw frozen food items properly in refrigerated conditions.
- Ensure correct portioning, arrangement, and garnishing of meals.
- Keep detailed logs related to food preparation and inventory.
- Monitor food quantity and quality continuously.
- Provide communication support during peak periods for necessary assistance.
- Notify the chef about leftover food suitable for daily specials.
- Inform Food & Beverage staff of menu specials and any items out of stock.
- Prepare and cook foods according to established recipes and quality standards, including cold dishes.
- Assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching team members, acting as a role model.
- Adhere strictly to company policies and safety procedures, promptly reporting maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions.
- Maintain professional appearance and confidentiality of proprietary information.
- Anticipate and meet the service needs of guests with clear and professional communication.
- Foster positive working relationships and team support to achieve shared objectives.
- Comply with quality standards and expectations consistently.
- Perform physical tasks such as standing, sitting, walking extended periods, bending, twisting, lifting objects up to 25 pounds without assistance.
- Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications and Experience
- Technical, trade, or vocational school degree preferred.
- Minimum of three years of relevant work experience in culinary roles.
- No supervisory experience required.
- No specific licenses or certifications necessary.
