Cloud Architect - OpenStack

Role Overview

This position calls for designing and building secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure leveraging OpenStack technology. The successful candidate will lead cloud migration projects from legacy or on-premises setups to OpenStack environments and implement disaster recovery and business continuity strategies across multiple data centers or regions.

Primary Duties

• Architect and design secure and scalable OpenStack cloud solutions.
• Develop and review high-level and low-level design documents, network and security architectures, and reference blueprints.
• Lead cloud migration initiatives including lift-and-shift, re-platforming, and modernization efforts.
• Plan and execute disaster recovery strategies ensuring continuity across locations.
• Oversee managed service operations such as monitoring, patch management, backups, optimization, and incident resolution.
• Configure and administer cloud resources including compute, storage, network, security groups, and identity management.
• Work extensively with OpenStack core services like Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Swift, Keystone, and Horizon.
• Leverage Infrastructure as Code and automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Heat, and shell scripting.
• Collaborate with customers and internal teams for requirements gathering, solution design, and technical presentations.
• Conduct cloud readiness assessments, capacity planning, sizing, and cost optimization exercises.
• Prepare comprehensive technical documentation covering architecture diagrams, deployment procedures, operational runbooks, and disaster recovery processes.
• Support pre-sales activities including solution workshops, proof of concepts, and proposal development when needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of six years practical experience in cloud architecture and infrastructure design.
• Strong expertise with OpenStack cloud platforms and components including Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Swift, Keystone, and Horizon.
• Proven experience in migrating virtual machines, applications, and databases to cloud.
• Demonstrable knowledge of disaster recovery, backup solutions, and high availability configurations.
• Solid background in Linux administration and virtualization technologies such as KVM and VMware.
• Good understanding of networking concepts, including VLANs, overlays, routing protocols, firewalls, and load balancing.
• Proficiency with automation and orchestration tools like Terraform and Ansible.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes, particularly incident, change, and problem management in managed services contexts.
• Experience with container technologies and Kubernetes or OpenShift platforms is advantageous.
• Excellent communication, documentation skills, and ability to lead technical discussions across teams.
