About the Company and Role

Our client is tackling the global issue of food waste, which accounts for approximately one-third of all food produced worldwide—around 1.3 billion tonnes annually. They have developed a machine learning-driven demand forecasting SaaS platform that helps reduce fresh food waste by up to 30%, simultaneously boosting enterprise revenues. Their solution is currently operational with Germany's largest grocery retailers and expanding throughout multiple European countries. Having secured an eight-figure Series A funding, the company has achieved €2 million in Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) and targets €5 million in contracts this year.

Role Overview

As the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), you will take full ownership of the technical direction and development of this ML-intensive forecasting platform. Collaborating closely with the CEO, you will lead engineering efforts and scale the business effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and steer the technical strategy and system architecture of the forecasting platform.
• Lead and nurture a focused team of engineers and machine learning experts to deliver high-impact results.
• Remain hands-on with the codebase and provide guidance in complex technical decision-making.
• Work in tandem with the CEO to shape product strategy and drive company growth.
• Establish a robust technical vision to support product expansion into new markets.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience as an engineering leader who has successfully built, scaled, and mentored high-performing technology teams.
• Possess strong Python programming skills and maintain an active engagement with coding tasks.
• Demonstrable background in machine learning or AI engineering contributing directly to product development.
• Experience delivering enterprise-grade B2B SaaS solutions to large and demanding customers.
• Track record of contributing to the growth of early-stage startups from inception.
