Role Overview

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will steer all administrative and operational areas of the bank, reporting directly to the President/CEO. This position oversees Deposit Operations, Loan Operations, Compliance, IT, Digital Banking, and the Call Center, focusing on operational excellence, compliance, customer satisfaction, and employee engagement to promote sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and implement operational strategies aligned with the bank’s mission and growth plans.
  • Lead and supervise departments: Deposit Operations, Loan Operations, Compliance, IT, Digital Banking, and Call Center.
  • Ensure processes are efficient, compliant, scalable, and follow industry standards.
  • Encourage interdepartmental collaboration to enhance overall performance and customer experience.
  • Track performance metrics and initiate process enhancements to boost productivity and effectiveness.
  • Manage Deposit Operations, including strategic planning, process optimization, risk management, and customer service integration.
  • Promote technology utilization in deposit functions and maintain knowledge of banking systems.
  • Supervise Loan Operations ensuring accuracy, compliance, risk management, and superior service.
  • Collaborate with lending, compliance, and technology teams to refine loan processes.
  • Lead the bank’s technology and digital initiatives, enhancing system performance, cybersecurity, and innovation, including use of AI.
  • Recruit, develop, and assess operational leaders and teams, fostering a culture of teamwork and professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field required.
  • Advanced degrees or banking certifications preferred.
  • At least 15 years of banking experience with 10 years in senior leadership roles.
  • Proven experience managing multiple operational functions within a financial institution.
  • Expertise in Deposit and Loan Operations, IT, Compliance, Risk Management, and Digital Banking.
  • Familiarity with core banking systems and operational technologies.
  • Prior leadership experience in community or regional banks is highly desired.
