Job Overview
We are in search of a meticulous and highly competent Chief Accountant to enhance our finance department in Dubai. This role involves overseeing financial transactions, maintaining precise accounting documentation, and ensuring adherence to both company standards and regulatory requirements.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise the accounting department to ensure implementation of appropriate accounting methods and internal control systems.
- Lead the company’s ERP system migration project.
- Manage online banking activities including verification of deposits, transfers, and issuance of cheques.
- Review and verify all accounting transactions and payments prior to approval by the Managing Partner.
- Analyze weekly team reports on Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Sales; provide guidance and recommend corrective measures.
- Prepare financial reports to satisfy requirements from external stakeholders such as banks, suppliers, and governmental bodies.
- Handle processing and cancellation of employee visas.
- Calculate employee payroll and benefits accurately.
- Review VAT returns and refunds to ensure precision before submission to the Federal Tax Authority and resolve any VAT-related issues within the firm.
- Conduct month-end closing activities including account reconciliations and final preparation of financial statements.
- Collaborate with the finance team to accomplish accounting and administrative tasks within set deadlines.
- Provide financial analysis and management reporting as required.
- Suggest improvements to existing accounting and financial procedures.
- Coordinate and lead year-end inventory counting and reconciliation efforts.
- Serve as the main contact for external audits, supplying necessary data and preparing requested documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Accountancy (Bachelor of Science) and must hold a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.
- At least five years of supervisory experience in general accounting.
- Previous employment experience specifically within product trading and distribution industries.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and accounting operations.
- Firm understanding of UAE VAT regulations with extensive experience in corporate and personal taxation.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong expertise in completing financial statements accurately.
- Precise, consistent, and detail-oriented work ethic.
- Professional verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills to maintain strong relationships with clients and internal teams.
- Ability to meet deadlines and deliver work punctually.
- Demonstrates proactive problem-solving ability with decisive leadership and judgment skills.
