Role Overview

The CAD Designer I plays a key role in assisting with CAD production, coordination of design activities, and ensuring adherence to standards. The individual supports project success by collaborating with team members to produce high-quality project documentation that meets deadlines and company requirements.

Primary Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing high-quality Land Development Plans, Zoning Plans, Concept Plans, and Exhibits.
• Employ multiple software platforms for effective Land Development Plan preparation.
• Apply municipal design standards in accordance with layout restrictions and guidelines.
• Coordinate file sharing and communication with external agencies.
• Facilitate CAD coordination among Engineers, CAD Designers, and Project Managers to ensure project alignment.
• Ensure drawings fulfill scope, scheduling, budget, regulatory standards, and company policies.
• Implement best practices to optimize workflows and achieve project milestones on schedule.
• Maintain organized drawing files consistent with company archiving standards.
• Conduct progressive checks and comprehensive final QA/QC reviews to assure drawing accuracy, constructability, and consistency before submission.
• Establish and uphold CAD standards, workflows, and best practices through client templates, training presentations, and guides.
• Provide mentorship and technical support to CAD users alongside CAD Management.
• Promote continuous improvement, automation, and adoption of new CAD technologies and software innovations.
• Engage in cross-office collaboration while maintaining responsibility for assigned deliverables.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology, CAD, or a related discipline preferred, or minimum of one year of professional experience in CAD usage.
• Familiarity with CAD principles and drafting methodologies.
• Understanding of land development principles and practices.
• Ability to participate in CAD workflows and adhere to project timelines.
• Strong problem-solving skills related to CAD drawing issues.
• Capability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Ability to resolve issues as directed by management.
• Exceptional attention to detail while ensuring consistent quality in workflow.
• Willingness to take on additional responsibilities and expand CAD skills through training and professional growth.
• Team player with effective interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
