Role Overview
We are seeking a full-time Automation Engineer to join our on-site team in Hastings, Hawke's Bay. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying automated and robotic solutions tailored for industrial and postharvest contexts. Daily tasks will encompass programming control systems, equipment commissioning, and process optimization to boost performance and dependability.
Key Responsibilities
- Program and configure automation control systems integrating robotics and process control.
- Commission and test equipment to ensure readiness and operational efficiency.
- Diagnose and resolve technical faults and issues rapidly to minimize downtime.
- Work collaboratively with electrical engineers and project teams to align system functionality with project goals.
- Ensure all systems comply with safety and quality standards alongside client requirements.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for projects and installed systems.
- Support maintenance and periodic upgrades for automation installations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven expertise in automation and robotics including system design, programming, and commissioning.
- Strong foundation in electrical engineering principles and process control technologies.
- Competency in troubleshooting complex system and equipment issues efficiently.
- Tertiary qualification in engineering disciplines such as electrical, automation, or mechatronics, or possess equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces), SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), and industrial communication protocols.
- Knowledge of industrial safety standards and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Candidates must be authorized to work in New Zealand and able to work on-site in Hastings, demonstrating a hands-on approach in commissioning and support roles.
