Audio Visual Technician

Position Overview

The Audio Visual Technician is tasked with setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and dismantling audio, video, lighting, and staging equipment throughout the hotel's various venues. This role mainly supports banquet halls and catered events, as well as managing background music, digital signage, and special AV requirements in the hotel's restaurants and bars.

Key Duties

• Efficiently transport, install, and configure AV equipment such as microphones, sound systems, projectors, LED screens, lighting rigs, and staging, following specified event orders.
• Operate soundboards, video switches, and lighting controls during live events including corporate meetings, weddings, and conferences.
• Serve as the on-site technical liaison for event hosts and guest speakers, managing rehearsals and swiftly resolving technical issues.
• Maintain and program ambient background music systems zoning audio volumes suitable for various dining and lounge settings.
• Set up and manage AV equipment for restaurant events like live acoustic performances, DJ sessions, sports screenings, and private presentations.
• Oversee the monitoring and updating of digital signage including menu boards, promotional displays, and directional screens in dining and lobby areas.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance and safety inspections on all AV property equipment.
• Manage inventory tracking, report damaged equipment, and assist with arranging repairs or rentals.
• Keep AV storage areas safe, organized, and clean.

Necessary Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum of 2 years experience as an AV technician within hospitality, hotel, or live event production settings.
• Expertise with audio mixing consoles, wireless microphone frequency management, and signal flow understanding.
• Proficiency with video switchers, projectors, HDMI/SDI routing, and knowledge of correct aspect ratios.
• Familiarity with lighting consoles and DMX programming basics.
• Basic understanding of IT networking for device connectivity on Wi-Fi or LAN during presentations.
• Ability to remain calm and solve problems efficiently under pressure, displaying professional conduct suited to luxury hospitality.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders, and standing or walking for extended event durations.
• Availability for a flexible work schedule including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays based on event requirements.
