About the Role
Cooley Public Strategies, a public affairs firm with offices in Nashville and Washington, D.C., serving clients nationwide, seeks an Associate in Public Affairs. This role involves strategic public policy consulting, media relations, community engagement, and research for leading companies and nonprofits.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily client account activities alongside senior staff.
- Coordinate multiple projects primarily in healthcare and infrastructure, balancing deadlines and priorities.
- Contribute to crafting strategic advice for clients and team members on various public affairs topics.
- Transform client information into written communications for internal audiences, media, and the public.
- Support event organization including grand openings, press tours, roundtables, and conferences.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and community leaders relevant to firm objectives.
- Collaborate effectively in a hybrid work environment with both in-office and remote colleagues.
- Exhibit strong work ethic and dedication to ongoing professional development.
- Utilize process and project management skills to advance team efforts.
- Execute additional tasks as necessary to support the firm and its clientele.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; 0-2 years experience in public affairs, political campaigns, journalism, or related areas preferred.
- Internship, campus involvement, or newsroom experience is also valued.
- Interest in community engagement, media relations, and incorporating digital strategies into campaigns.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong collaborative skills suited for hybrid working settings.
- Openness to a variety of client issues.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality work aligned with client missions.
