Job Purpose
The role focuses on implementing maintenance strategies for Boiler, Turbine, and Generator (BTG) equipment to ensure reliable and efficient operations. It prioritizes safety adherence, compliance with environmental and legal regulations, and integrates technological advances to enhance performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical Balance of Plant (BoP) and Coal Handling Plant (CHP) maintenance and operations.
- Carry out electrical maintenance tasks for BoP, CHP, and associated systems such as RO Plant, Sea Intake, FGD, Hydrogen Plant, DM plant, including HT/LT switchgear, HT/LT Motors, lifts, ensuring uninterrupted functionality.
- Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and Standard Maintenance Plans (SMPs) reflecting current best industry practices.
- Support and facilitate improvement projects within BoP, CHP, and related areas.
- Implement comprehensive maintenance approaches—preventive, predictive, and corrective—to reduce downtime and extend equipment longevity.
- Manage annual overhauls and outage period maintenance with emphasis on safety, timeliness, and quality standards, controlling budgets and manpower effectively.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment failures, perform root cause analyses to enhance system reliability.
- Conduct proactive maintenance and testing to ensure equipment functions within approved limits and recommend any corrective interventions.
- Oversee contractor performance, billing verifications, and ensure contractual obligations are met.
- Ensure timely completion of Preventive Maintenance (PM), Corrective Maintenance (CM), and condition monitoring activities.
- Identify opportunities for process and system enhancements aligned with leadership directives and operational needs.
- Lead repair and refurbishment activities maintaining high maintenance standards.
- Utilize SAP effectively for tracking maintenance work, managing spare parts inventory, and ensuring timely closure of maintenance notifications.
- Monitor availability and condition of all BoP/CHP electrical equipment including transformers, switchgear, motors, DC systems, DG sets, lifts, lighting, stacker reclaimer auxiliaries, and wagon tripler systems.
- Assist in managing spares inventory and development of critical indigenous spares for BoP/CHP equipment.
- Generate purchase requests, coordinate procurement processes, and follow through with techno-commercial teams for contract finalization and closure.
- Prepare service entry sheets and monitor payment cycles for completed services.
- Enforce Integrated Management System (IMS), Adani Workplace Management System (AWMS), DISHA, ABEM, and CHETNA safety guidelines within the department.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and legal requirements, including electrical licenses and elevator certifications.
- Implement hazard mitigation measures, participate in safety drills, and promote personnel and equipment safety through proper training and protocol adherence.
- Drive digitalization initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, implement process improvements, adopt new technologies, and analyze digital data to identify improvement opportunities.
- Coordinate with internal departments and service teams along with external contractors for materials and services.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline is mandatory; a master's degree is preferable.
- Minimum of 11 years experience in electrical maintenance within power generation or related heavy industry sectors.
- Preferred industry background includes power generation, transmission, or distribution with specialized experience in Balance of Plant (BoP) and Coal Handling Plant (CHP) maintenance.
