Job Purpose
The role of Project Controls Director entails overseeing the Project Controls Function for all work packages and major contracts within large-scale projects. This includes leadership of Cost Management, Planning/Scheduling, Change Management, Reporting, Risk, and Information Management activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the regional subject matter expert in project controls, both within the company and externally.
- Offer technical leadership and support for regional pursuits and bids.
- Ensure the delivery of the regional Project Controls team budget and business performance.
- Provide people leadership, fostering engagement, development, and effective resource deployment.
- Drive team growth while cultivating a diverse and inclusive work culture.
- Champion service excellence across project controls functions.
- Ensure compliance with Business Management Systems encompassing contract, risk, health, safety, wellbeing, delivery, and finance.
- Lead Health, Safety & Wellbeing initiatives for the designated Cost Centre.
- Oversee contract execution and compliance.
- Maintain a visible presence in regional markets.
- Secure regional bids aligned with the Cost Centre goals.
- Manage resource planning and capability development to meet regional demands.
Qualifications and Experience
- Preferably holds a degree, commonly from Quantity Surveying or Project Management backgrounds.
- Proven experience leading substantial teams.
- Has worked across multiple sectors at major project levels (implementing project controls) and at programme levels (establishing project services functions, processes, systems, monitoring, assurance, and optimization services).
- Possesses expertise spanning estimating, cost management, scheduling, risk, change management, performance measurement, and reporting.
- Capable of designing and embedding management systems and information management approaches, including project controls tools.
- Familiarity with contract strategies and deploying project controls across supply chains.
- Experience in both client and contractor environments is advantageous.
Skills and Behaviors
- At least 15 to 20 years of professional experience managing project controls for major construction project development or delivery.
- Track record of success as a Project Controls Director, including coordinating and managing project controls teams effectively.
