Job Overview
The Assistant Purchasing Manager at Marriott International in Adelaide supports the ordering, receiving, storage, distribution, and payment processes, while aiding in the creation of approved vendor lists covering all categories.
Qualifications

Key Responsibilities
- Help manage projects, policies, and standards related to purchasing across multiple departments.
- Generate timely and accurate reports and presentations.
- Compile, code, categorize, calculate, audit, and verify purchase-related data.
- Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety standards in the storage and handling of products.
- Assist the Executive Chef with purchasing food, beverages, and controllable items to maintain quality and profitability.
- Order food and beverages according to business needs and aid in maintaining or reducing budgeted costs.
- Enforce inventory rotation policies to optimize stock usage and monitor budget adherence.
- Secure food and beverage storeroom assets and coordinate delivery schedules with vendors and kitchen management.
- Verify invoices against shipments concerning quantity, quality, and specifications.
- Use computer systems for daily and period-end food and beverage cost analysis and inventory control.
- Complete routine administrative tasks, such as menu costing and inventory calculations, maintaining accurate financial logs.
- Communicate pricing and product availability issues to the Food & Beverage Director and Executive Chef.
- Assist with receiving and inspecting deliveries and maintain bookkeeping accuracy for invoices.
Accounting and Technical Proficiency
- Understand job-specific products, systems, and processes relevant to purchasing.
- Operate computer hardware and software to process and analyze information.
- Apply knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and standards to ensure compliance.
- Continuously update technical knowledge and apply it to job responsibilities.
- Demonstrate proficiency in A.S.I. (American Standards Institute) standards.
Financial Management
- Submit reports punctually to meet deadlines.
- Accurately document profits and losses.
- Set and achieve performance, budgetary, and team goals.
- Develop plans to organize, prioritize, and accomplish tasks efficiently.
- Monitor applicable taxes to ensure proper collection and accrual.
Additional Duties
- Communicate information effectively via telephone, email, and written correspondence.
- Analyze information to select the best solutions for problem-solving.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff, vendors, and the Executive Chef.
- Use existing software programs to manage invoicing and update costing information.
- Participate actively in all relevant meetings.
- Provide guidance on accounting and budgeting policies and ensure efficient control of financial resources.
- Keep executives, peers, and subordinates informed with timely updates.
