Assistant Manager - Production

Overview

Jubilant Ingrevia Limited is seeking a committed and skilled Assistant Manager for Production at our chemical manufacturing facility in Gajraula, Uttar Pradesh. The selected candidate will manage shift operations to ensure efficient batch process management while upholding stringent safety, quality, and compliance standards. This role requires exposure to hazardous materials and flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate all activities during assigned shifts to meet production schedules and operational protocols.
• Control operating parameters of reactors, distillation columns, and related equipment to ensure smooth plant operation.
• Maintain regular communication with department heads, shift engineers, maintenance, and utilities teams regarding plant performance and issues.
• Manage raw material and consumables requirements aligning with production planning and ensure their daily availability.
• Coordinate with production chemists, operators, and safety officers to resolve operational challenges.
• Monitor steam and utilities parameters and act accordingly to maintain optimal functioning.
• Implement Integrated Management Systems (IMS) and coordinate work permits as required.
• Supervise deployment of casual labor and conduct safety briefings relevant to planned activities.
• Organize logistics for loading and unloading of products, raw materials, and solvents transported via road tankers.
• Work collaboratively with R&D, maintenance, quality control, and assurance teams to ensure seamless production processes.
• Manage batch process oversight to avoid abnormalities and maintain process parameters as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Ensure plant emissions and discharges comply with prescribed environmental norms.
• Lead and mentor shift teams, fostering motivation towards world-class manufacturing initiatives including 5S, TPM, and housekeeping.
• Enforce strict adherence to safety regulations, conduct audits, and maintain a secure workplace environment; act as incident controller until senior authority takes charge during emergencies.
• Guarantee availability and proper usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Ensure quality control measures meet standards and prepare for both internal and external audit processes.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and coordinate maintenance activities with the technical team.
• Maintain detailed shift reports documenting production data, incidents, and deviations.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing efficiency and reducing costs.

Candidate Profile

• Educational Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Experience: Minimum 4 to 6 years, including supervisory roles in chemical manufacturing settings.
• In-depth understanding of batch chemical processes and related unit operations.
• Operational knowledge of reactors (including high-pressure autoclaves), distillation columns, filters, pumps, blowers, safety and control valves.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement methodologies like WCM, 5S, TPM, and TQM.
• Familiarity with DCS/PLC system operations and control.
• Experience handling toxic and hazardous materials alongside knowledge of MSDS.
• Capability in preparing SOPs and work instructions for operational areas.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office software and cross-functional team collaboration abilities.
