Role Overview
The City of Wagga Wagga is seeking a proactive and experienced individual to join the Water Reclamation team. This full-time, permanent role involves operating and maintaining sewage treatment plants within the Wagga Wagga area to ensure environmental compliance and high-quality service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain the sewage treatment plant facilities.
- Assist the Senior Water Reclamation Operator with timely interventions, adjustments, and improvements to prevent environmental damage and ensure licensing compliance.
- Collect samples and perform analyses to optimize plant performance.
- Participate in on-call schedules and respond to out-of-hours callouts as needed.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation relevant to plant operations.
Candidate Requirements
- Qualification in relevant field such as Certificate III in Water Industry Operations (Wastewater Treatment), or Advanced Wastewater Treatment Operations Certificate, or willingness to obtain post-employment.
- Significant experience in the operation of sewage treatment plants.
- Possession of a White Card (General Construction Induction Training).
- Desirable certifications include Confined Spaces Certificate, Working at Heights Certificate, and First Aid qualification.
- Experience supervising trainees and contractors is highly regarded.
- Mandatory vaccination proof for Q-Fever, Hepatitis A, and Hepatitis B per workplace health and safety laws.
Additional Information
- Permanent full-time position, 38 hours per week.
- Salary starts at $2,793.68 gross per fortnight with progression potential up to $3,352.42 gross per fortnight plus 12% superannuation.
- Pay rates will increase on 1 July 2026 in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award.
